With most of the North Coast having experienced severe downpours this past week, the South African Weather Service has warned South Africans living in KwaZulu-Natal to expect more heavy rain this coming week.
The recent heavy rains have had a disastrous impact in most parts of Durban, with many roads and areas being cordoned off for public safety due to flooding and damage, a notable example being Chartwell drive which collapsed on the 13th of January due to a heavy thunderstorm that swept across the area.
Residents have reported immense property damage with some houses having collapsed in large-scale landslides, though rural areas have been hit the hardest with multiple families being displaced due to their homes being washed away.
Disaster Management and Response teams are on high alert following the SAWS's warning, and a Search and Rescue is currently underway for missing individuals.
